PHILADELPHIA – Congressional Progressive Caucus Co-Chair Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN) will introduce Sen. Bernie Sanders during tonight’s (July 25) primetime coverage at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia.
The introduction takes place 9:40 p.m. local time. Ellison was a staunch support of Sanders’ presidential bid and appeared with him at numerous campaign stops prior to Hillary Clinton securing the delegate votes to become the party’s presumptive nominee.
At approximately 5:30 p.m., Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD), chairman of the Democratic Platform Drafting Committee, will deliver remarks at the convention.
Under Cummings’ leadership, the committee held public hearings in Washington, D.C., St. Louis, Phoenix and Orlando to hear from policy experts and everyday Americans to draft the party’s 2016 platform.
Cummings is expected to urge the party to keep its focus on putting American families first.
