Cincinnati vice mayor Alicia Reece tells policy makers at Forum

Sustained tension over accusations of racial profiling and excessive force by Minneapolis police, including the fatal shooting of suspects, led federal officials to suggest earlier this year that mediation take place between the city and representatives for citizens who’ve complained about police action in African American communities. Following prolonged controversy and debate, three months of weekly mediation are scheduled to commence Dec. 10. A key aspect of the projected sessions is the selection of community representatives who will participate on the panel with city officials and a mediator from the U.S. Department of Justice.
