Jeremiah Bass and the Thunder Host David Beckham at Metrodome

It was actually a really good game. David Beckham of the LA Galaxy took a free kick early in the 8th minute that found teammate Edson Buddle giving the Galaxy the early 1-0 lead. After the jitters of playing against superstar and free kick guru David Beckham wore off, the Thunder settled down and started playing to their strengths.

From then on, Jeremiah Bass and the Thunder possessed the ball for the majority of the game, getting their best scoring opportunities from the speedy veteran, Johnny Menyonger.

However, it was the new Thunder player Dayton O'Brien whose cross to Sebastian LeToux tied the game up at 1-1. MN Thunder controlled the pace of most of the second half and had their chances to win. But in the end, it was penalty kicks that broke the tie and declared LA Galaxy the winner.

It's probably better that Beckham was the guy holding the conspicuously large trophy at the end of the game. Otherwise, we might have had a good ol'fashion soccer riot go down. The field would be a battleground-blur of pigtails and glittery face paint.
