American Public Media Group selects David Kansas as new COO

David Kansas, has accepted the position of chief operating officer, announced the American Public Media Group, parent company of Minnesota Public Radio and American Public Media. Kansas, a Wall Street Journal veteran and digital startup pioneer who grew up in St. Paul, will succeed Jon McTaggart, who took over as CEO on July 1.

“Dave has terrific journalistic and executive management experience. In addition to his strengths as an award-winning journalist, his experience building and leading innovative digital media companies and his strategic planning and business development skills will make him a great addition to our strong senior team,” said McTaggart. Kansas has held a variety of positions with Dow Jones & Company and The Wall Street Journal, including reporter, online deputy managing editor, European markets editor and, most recently, chief markets commentator. Kansas also was editor of Money and Investing, and was on the founding team of TheStreet.com where his positions included executive vice president, executive editor and chief strategic officer. He is the author of several books, including The Wall Street Journal’s Guide to the End of Wall Street as We Know It and TheStreet.coms Guide to Investing in the Digital Age. Kansas holds a bachelor’s degree in American History from Columbia College in New York.
