American Indian Opportunities Industrialization Center awarded $5 million grant from the US Department of Labor to assist unemployed and dislocated workers

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Department of Labor last week announced more than $225 million in health care and high growth training grants funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.  The grants will allow community colleges, community-based organizations, state workforce agencies and other public entities to deliver training that leads to employment in a range of health care fields and other growing industries.  With today’s announcement, organizations in all 50 states have received a share of nearly $750 million in competitive grant funding made available through the Department of Labor.

Connecting the past toward our future

We study  history to learn  valuable lessons and to avoid  tragic mistakes.

For all the divisions that rend the U.S., there is at least one point of agreement between today’s Blacks and Whites, Democrats and Republicans, young and old: factually, Blacks are inattentive to America’s system of capitalism.  Amid American capitalism 98 percent of Blacks are consumers, not producers.  Black Americans are dependant on other groups for feeding, clothing, culture and language and need organized participation in ways of America’s wealth.

The engaging January 22 debate, part of the recent National Newspapers Publishers’ Mid-Winter Conference held in Charlotte, NC drew candid comments from presenters and publishers alike.

This time, it’s all about me.  If you are looking for work, let me tell you, I feel your pain.  In keeping with the new frugality of our times, I had the brilliant idea that I would find a part time job within a gym and, for the cost of a few hours of my time, enjoy the free membership afforded employees at many fitness centers.  I started this process in November.  January is now behind us and I am beginning to pack on the pounds.
