Established in 2012, by New York City's 92nd Street Y in partnership with the United Nations Foundation, and a team of influencers and founding partners, Giving Tuesday now engages over 10,000 organizations worldwide.

The fifth annual Small Business Saturday, which takes place November 29th this year, is a day designed to support and promote small businesses during the long and busy Thanksgiving holiday weekend. Better Business Bureau of Minnesota and North Dakota (BBB) is helping to spread awareness of Small Business Saturday and encouraging businesses and consumers to participate.
Unfortunately, Dane missed out on a job offer this week after what he thought was a pretty good phone interview. Said the manager, "Overall good background, mostly relevant to what we are seeking." So far, so good. His background made him right for the job; that wasn't the obstacle.
The Thanksgiving holiday is right around the corner, and some retailers have already announced at least some of their Black Friday deals. Though more and more stores are opening their doors to shoppers on Thanksgiving Day, the day after Thanksgiving – Black Friday – will remain one of the biggest shopping days of the year. It's time to ask, but just exactly what do you say?
As the year comes to a close nonprofits look to board members, volunteers and donors to ask their friends, family members and colleagues to consider making a meaningful gift. You may have the internal fortitude to overcome your fear of asking (read, fear of rejection), but what exactly do you say and do?
Does anyone write thank you notes anymore? Yes, they do. They don't often lick a stamp or seal the envelope with wax, but most people do still take the time to say "Thank you" to those who do something nice for them.
