Joy Mosley is a passionate Human Rights Activist and a Community Organizer. She is a Peace Delegation Member of Christian Peacemaker Teams (CPT) and an Editorial Committee Member for the Nonviolent Peaceforce (NP). As a Human Rights Activist, Joy travels abroad to document human rights violations and conduct public presentations to share her findings with the general public. Joy is also a U.S. Fund for UNICEF Volunteer and an active board member for the Daylight Center in Kenya.

International peace group comes back to its rootsCIRCLE PINES – Mel Duncan has travelled all around the world in the last decade, getting into dangerous situations and finding peaceful solutions in a variety of global hotspots as part of Nonviolent Peaceforce, an international organization he co-founded with Quaker activist David Hartsough.

Last week, however, NP made a local stop when Duncan and the group’s other leaders held their annual director’s meeting at the Circle Pines Hospitality House.

PALESTINE: Pedagogy of the occupied tardiness7 March 2013 – On school days in Hebron you can find members of CPT watching as teachers and students pass through the checkpoints that separate their homes from their schools. Two of the schools attended by children living in and near the Old City lie within the "H2" area of Hebron, which is under the control of Israeli soldiers and police. In order to reach their schools, children and teachers must pass through metal detectors. Soldiers frequently search their backpacks and briefcases. High school students and teachers are sometimes subject to body searches, and frequent ID checks often make both teachers and students late for school.

United States: At home in beloved communityIn November I received an email from Christian Peacemaker Teams (CPT) describing the 21st Century Freedom Ride, asking if someone would be willing to represent CPT on the trip. After reviewing the website, I quickly jumped on the opportunity to spend a weekend with Dr. Vincent Harding and dozens of folks representing present social justice movements. I am thankful to be a part of CPT and support its work to reduce violence and undo structural oppression.

But the Nigerian Igbo proverb is centuries old. The Igbo word for child means child of the community.

Soldiers enter the playground at the Ibrahimi School

AL-KHALIL (HEBRON)  - At 11:00 a.m. in 3 October CPT Office received a call from the Ibrahimi School to say that there were problems at the school and could they please get there quickly. Due to a Jewish Holiday the Mosque checkpoint was closed so the two CPTers had to take a taxi to get to the school. By the time they arrived the incident had finished.
