s.o.m.-at-2012-women-build-north-mplsSisters On a Mission's (S.O.M.), held a fundraiser on Friday May 31, 2013, to benefit TC Habitat for Humanity Women Build.

The fundraiser, “A Full Taste of Women Build”, was classy, fun, and exciting! Food sampling from area restaurants and live smooth jazz from Wenso Ashby and percussionist BLAIR – was a combination that would satisfy any Friday night date night, and the added silent and live auctions and raffles, pulled this evening together to be a huge success.

The proceeds from the fundraiser went to support the 2013 TC Habitat for Humanity Women Build, and more specifically, homes built for deserving families: one currently being built at 2939 Morgan Ave North, Mpls, and another to break ground and build this fall in St. Paul.

Women Build projects offer a unique approach to eliminating poverty housing in the Twin Cities. Women provide the funding and volunteer labor for an entire home build- from raising the first wall to landscaping. Each of the two Women Build homes is managed by an experienced woman site supervisor from Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity.

Women Build is women empowering women to make a difference for families in this community, and S.O.M. is truly making a difference in our community.

S.O.M. will be swinging hammers and pounding nails on Thursday July 25th at 2939 Morgan Ave N. Come see the progress that Twin Cities Women Build has made, as another family is welcomed to the North side community.
