Weather again delays opening of yard waste collection sites

Three of seven Ramsey County yard waste sites will open Monday, April 15; remaining four sites will open Saturday, April 20.

Due to continued precipitation and colder than normal temperatures, Ramsey County will open three of its seven yard waste sites on Monday, April 15, 2013, and delay opening four of them until Saturday April 20, 2013.

Customers can pay by cash, EBT or credit card. This exciting deal is called Fresh Fridays, a promotion of fresh fruits and vegetables at the neighborhood stores many depend on for snacks. During Fresh Fridays, shoppers can walk away with a bag of carrots and a few apples and oranges for only three dollars. Whoever said that fresh food had to be expensive?

Spring street sweeping begins soon

Weather permitting, an annual rite of spring in Minneapolis begins Tuesday, April 9. That's when Public Works crews will start a comprehensive sweeping of all city streets and alleys to clean up the dirt and grime the melting ice and snow leaves behind. Beginning Monday April 8, drivers should watch for temporary "no parking" signs along these roadways to avoid a ticket and tow.
