North Minneapolis African-American teens have been working for the past six weeks on a project to develop their vision of West Broadway for the West Broadway Summer Design Institute.

The Jamaica Minnesota Organization hosted the Jamaica 50 Celebration in Minneapolis. Attendees enjoyed food, music, as well as visual and performing arts presentations including Anancy story telling and Louise Bennett poetry.
Rev. Linton Scott delivered the keynote address.


Last year, FLOW Northside Arts Crawl rolled into the neighborhood on a diminished note. With much dedication and many art projects focused on the 2011 May tornado, this year FLOW artistic director Dudley Voigt said the event was scaled back up to its potential.

The Garden Gleaning Project, which was launched in March of 2012, works to facilitate the harvesting and distribution of fresh produce from gardens in the community to local food shelves. Their goal is to improve access to fresh fruits and vegetables within Hennepin County.
Cookie Cart youth test their skills at the National Guard rock climbing wall. It was all part of the 7th Annual Cookie Cart Summer Festival, in partnership with FLOW. In addition, Smack Shack Food Truck, live entertainment, kids games and of course cookies were a part of the day's festivities.
