Recently 50 residents living at 2909 Bloomington Ave. S. met with Minneapolis Police Officer Mukhtar Abdulkadir to find solutions to crime and safety problems that have been plaguing their neighborhood and their building.
The annual Northside summer concert series, Live on the Drive, continues it's seventh year. The unique sounds of Clocks and Clouds classical fusion will perform on Thursday, July 10th, from 6 to 8pm. The second of three concerts held outdoors this summer on the scenic Victory Memorial Drive at 34th Avenue North in Minneapolis, one of the most beautiful concert settings in the city.

Fifty years after the President Lyndon Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act of 1964, organizers are planning series of events in the Twin Cities that recognize the significance of the legislation that ended Jim Crow laws.

Historically, the Rondo neighborhood was the most vibrant African American community in St. Paul, until a new freeway, built in the 1960s, tore it apart. According to the Minnesota Historical Society, "The construction of I-94 shattered this tight-knit community, displaced thousands of African Americans into a racially segregated city and a discriminatory housing market, and erased a now-legendary neighborhood."
JK Movement participants from Murray Junior High School successfully completed the first ever service-learning project fully manned by JK Movement scholars.
Both the Theresa Living Center and Caroline Family Services in St. Paul benefited from the students' efforts. The school's participants designed, organized and executed a clothing drive resulting in more than 300 pieces of clothing being donated. JK Movement founder and executive director, Johnny Allen, Jr., delivered the donated clothing to the organizations.
