Maya Moore hosting summer youth basketball clinicOlympian and Lynx basketball star partners with YWCA of Minneapolis

The YWCA of Minneapolis is gearing up for a youth basketball clinic at the Midtown location on August 1 from 2-4 p.m. for girls and boys between the ages 6-12. The clinic will feature Maya Moore, a gold medal Olympian and star forward with Minnesota Lynx. Moore will speak with youth and help lead them through several fundamental drills, including ball handling, shooting and defense. All skill levels are welcome.

Mortenson/Thor to hold information sessions around Minnesota for new Multi-Purpose StadiumThe new Minnesota Multi-Purpose Stadium Construction Manager, Mortenson Construction, will be holding information sessions with project partner Thor Construction around the state to provide an overview of the project including introducing the project team, reviewing the project schedule and explaining the procurement opportunities and timeline. The Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority and the Minnesota Vikings announced today that the information sessions will be held in Minneapolis, Rochester, Duluth and Mankato.

Man struck and killed as he crossed highway in his wheelchair

At 9:40 p.m. on Thursday, July 11, officers responded to a traffic accident at the intersection of James Avenue North and Olson Memorial Highway. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male who had been struck by a vehicle as he was crossing the highway in his wheelchair.
