Northside loses two good menFloyd David Whitfield
The category E2 tornado that ripped through North Minneapolis on Sunday May 22, took the life of Floyd David Whitfield, 59, a well known and loved Minneapolis resident..  Whitfield was driving a child home from church and was killed when a tree swept by fierce winds tumbled on his minivan at the intersection of 37th and Freemont Ave N.  He was killed instantly of blunt forehead and neck injuries.

Whitfield is proceeded by his four children and four grandchildren.  Whitfield owned a tow truck company and worked as a mechanic.  He was also being trained for ministry at New Resurrection Missionary Baptist Church.  A benefit fund in his name has been set-up at TCF Bank.

Currently services for Floyd Whitfield are set for Friday June 3rd, 11:00am at Estes Chapel located at 2210 Plymouth Avenue N.
