Metropolitan State largest fall commencement set for Dec. 18

Metropolitan State University celebrates its 91st commencement exercises Tuesday, Dec. 18, with its largest group ever. The student speaker is Laura Hern, Willmar, Minn., outstanding student in the College of Individualized Studies, who completed all her university classes online.

The ceremony is in the Roy Wilkins Auditorium at Saint Paul RiverCentre. Approximately 1,214 students are receiving bachelor’s and master’s degrees with 580 expected to participate in the ceremony. This group represents the university’s summer and fall classes.

Other commencement participants include: Metropolitan State President Sue K. Hammersmith; Ginny Arthur, provost and academic vice president; Clarence Hightower, chair, Minnesota State Colleges and Universities system Board of Trustees; John Schneider, Inter-faculty Organization president; Christopher Nguyn, Student Senate president; Craig Vinje, chair, Metropolitan State University Foundation Board and Chief John Harrington, foundation trustee; James Lukaszewski and Gini Sanchez, Alumni Association board members; and Dan Bostrom, Saint Paul City Council member.
