Semifinalists for President of North Hennepin Community College named

Minnesota State Colleges and Universities has named four semifinalists who are under consideration to be president of North Hennepin Community College. The candidates are Matt Entenza, Barbara McDonald, Landon Pirius, and Tony Summers.

ThreeSixty Journalism, a nonprofit program of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of St. Thomas, has selected ThreeSixty student Amira Warren-Yearby as the 2015 ThreeSixty Scholar. Warren-Yearby will receive a full-tuition, four-year scholarship to study Communication and Journalism at St. Thomas starting in Fall 2015.
Minnesota Girl Scouts tour Historically Black Colleges & Universities

A spring break bus tour to North Carolina for Minnesota Girl Scouts charted the next step in their young lives. Twenty-eight high school students in the Girl Scouts River Valleys ConnectZ initiative left the first week of April for North Carolina where they visited five public and private historically black colleges and universities. During their visits, the Girl Scouts also had an opportunity to interview with admissions counselors and apply to the schools. The majority of the students will be the first in their families to pursue post-secondary education.

Metropolitan State University launches new urban education master's program. The Minnesota State Colleges and Universities Board of Trustees and Minnesota Board of Teaching approved the program on Feb. 18.
Mastery School teacher Terrence Price named one of 10 finalists for Teacher of the Year

Terrence Price, a third grade teacher at the Mastery School in north Minneapolis, has been named one of 10 finalists for Minnesota Teacher of the Year. He has been at the Harvest Network of Schools for 10 years and is the only charter school teacher ever named a finalist.
