Senator Champion gives kids tour of CapitolRecently at the Capitol, Senator Bobby Joe Champion (DFL – Minneapolis) gave students from Banaadir Academy a tour of the building. The Banaadir Academy is a charter school in Minneapolis that promotes “a safe, caring environment for diverse students.” When Sen. Champion showed the kids the basement in the Capitol, one of them asked, “Can you drive cars through the tunnel?”

MPS wants students back

A Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS) program that helps former and current students obtain their high school diploma is reaching out to those who attended MPS between 2000 and 2012 and need to pass one or more state tests to graduate high school.

Jonathan and his date, Marielle Arostegui, reigned over the Snowball Dance, a “girl-ask-guy” formal dance, which was held, Saturday, February 1. Four new directors join Minneapolis school boardThe Minneapolis Board of Education elected new officers for chair, vice chair, treasurer and clerk. Alberto Monserrate will serve as chair, Jenny Arneson as vice chair, Richard Mammen as clerk and Rebecca Gagnon as treasurer. The school board voted on the nominations after swearing in four new board members during its annual meeting Tuesday, January 8, bringing the total number of directors to nine.
