The Healing: A benefit for Bruce Jackson

E-mail Print PDF
brucejacksonOn Sunday, December 9th, 2012, Twin Cities musicians and loved ones will gather for a benefit for father, friend, and multi-instrumentalist Bruce Jackson at Famous Dave’s BBQ & Blues, 3001 Hennepin Ave. SO, Minneapolis 55408. Bruce Jackson is home-grown. Born and raised in White Bear Lake, he has been a fixture on the local music scene since he was 12 years old. In addition to gigging with too many local bands to mention, he’s an instructor at Evans Music in White Bear Lake and Camden Music School in Minneapolis.

Bruce was diagnosed with Peritoneal Mesothelioma (caused by asbestos exposure) in 2008 and, after a brief remission, the cancer has returned. Many of the Twin Cities’ finest musicians are showing their support for Bruce in order to help defray the costs of his treatment and rehabilitation. The line-up reads like a Who’s Who of top local performers:

• Rhythm Roosters (Rhythm & Blues MN Music Hall of Famers)

• Joe Juliano & the Walking Wounded

• Joe Cruz & Scenic Roots featuring Jennifer Grimm

• Javier Trejo

• Ipso Facto

• New Primitives

• Bruce Jackson & the Moondogs88 Band

• Grand Finale Jam featuring the Twin Cities’ finest musicians

In addition to the musical performances, there will be a silent auction featuring hotel stays, restaurants, musical instruments, and artwork from local artists.
