Two interstate highways on the west side of downtown Minneapolis have been closed after an accident involving a tanker spilled a significant amount of fuel. According to the State Patrol, the 18-wheeler rolled on the ramp to I-394 from westbound I-94 shortly after 9:00 a.m. The truck held about 7,000 gallons of fuel and was, at one point, leaking as many as 100 gallons a minute. The leak is now contained, but it's expected that the road closures will continue through the evening rush hour. The State Patrol is anticipating major traffic delays and is urging drivers to find alternate routes home. Early this afternoon, only northbound Interstate Hwy. 94 from the Lowry Hill Tunnel to Interstate Hwy. 394, and the ramp from Hennepin and Lyndale avenues to northbound I-94 and westbound I-394 remained closed.
