Join members of the community for the annual Black History Month celebration "Passing the Torch: The Legacy Lives in Youth". This FREE, fun, family friendly event places an emphasis on the importance of handing heritage from one generation to the next. It also demonstrates our collective responsibility to create opportunities for youth to empower themselves.

Activities at the event include an interactive community resource fair with activities for kids of all ages. At 6:30 there will be a program showcasing live entertainment by talented young people and an award ceremony recognizing individuals who have demonstrated positive leadership in the community. The evening is topped off with a free community soul food dinner (served until gone).

The Leap Forward Collaborative for Youth is a collective of 38 organizations in St. Paul's Summit-University and Frogtown neighborhoods dedicated to providing local youth with opportunities for personal growth and self-empowerment. The collaborative also places a great amount of importance on providing spaces for community members, especially young people, to gather to celebrate their history and their community.
