The John Biggers Seed Project (Seed), a public art and design effort that engages renowned African-American artists in mentoring young artists, revealed its designs for a massive art project that seeks to transform the Olson Memorial Highway Bridge over Interstate 94.
At just 28 years of age and not too far removed from college himself, James Barnett is charged with making sure that students at Minneapolis College Preparatory School attend and graduate college themselves.

WASHINGTON (NNPA) – More than 1,000 women of color – including Mary Frances Berry, former chair of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights; Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist Alice Walker; actress Rosie Perez; political activist Angela Davis; Anita Hill, a law professor best known for testifying that she had been sexually harassed by future Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas and economist Julianne Malveau – released a letter to President Obama Tuesday asking him to expand his White House initiative aimed at Black and Latino males to include women and girls of color.

Lawyer, professor, scholar-activist, preacher, mom, volunteer and blogger, Nekima Levy-Pounds has a lot on her plate. The recent Star Tribune blogger (in addition to her writing for MinnPost and TC Daily Planet) is being thrown accolades left and right, but she takes it all in stride.
