Larry Lester, Negro Leagues baseball historian, Black sports researcher and co-founder of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in Kansas City, Mo., will speak at 7 p.m. June 21 in Room 100 of Schneider Hall at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.

Lester’s visit is in conjunction with a traveling exhibit, "Pride and Passion: The African-American Baseball Experience," on display through July 2 at UW-Eau Claire's McIntyre Library. The national traveling exhibit chronicles the remarkable history of baseball's Negro Leagues and the challenges and successes of African-American baseball players.

On March 25th, a select few former NBA players joined coach Andre Cobbs of United Recreational Sports and C-1 Group for a charity basketball event.  Held in Los Angeles, CA, the basketball game raised money for the Philippines typhoon relief, a tragedy that occurred in December 2011 and took the lives of thousands of Filipinos.

A man long associated with March Madness, Len Elmore is currently appearing on CBS for his 12th season as an analyst during the network’s NCAA Men's Basketball Championship coverage. In addition, he has served as a basketball analyst for ESPN for the past 13 consecutive years, calling ACC and Big East games, including the Big East Tournament.

Elmore is an eight-year NBA veteran, having played with the Indiana Pacers, Kansas City Kings, Milwaukee Bucks, New Jersey Nets and New York Knicks. He spent two seasons with the ABA's Indiana Pacers in 1975-76 before the franchise joined the NBA.

Len is a 1974 graduate of the University of Maryland where he was a three-time All-ACC player as well as an All-American his senior year. In 2002, the 50th Anniversary of the ACC, he was chosen as one of the ACC's Top 50 Players of all time.

If anyone had told me that I’d pay $30.00 for admission to a sports stadium where no event was taking place, I would have thought they were smoking something illegal, or at least drinking something 80 proof.  But that’s exactly what I did during a recent trip to Dallas, and I was stone cold sober.

I’m not prepared to say it was the best $30.00 I’ve ever spent, but the VIP guided tour of the $1.1 billion Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, TX, was well worth the price of admission, even if you don’t root for the Cowboys.

Atlanta-native and sports enthusiast Rashan Ali is the newest addition to NBA TV's line-up of analysts and correspondents. Ali joins the network as the Social Media Correspondent on Fantasy Insider, where she will work alongside Host and seasoned sports journalist Rick Kamala and former record-breaking NBA player Dennis Scott. As a correspondent on the show, Ali will infuse social media commentary and questions from fans into the team's discussions.
 

It’s not easy to find snow these days but last week- the Nellie Stone Ski Team went looking- and found it!  The two Nellie Stone Ski Team coaches, along with two volunteer chaperones from the Major Taylor Cycling Group loaded skis, snow pants and 6 pairs of jumpy legs to head, caravan style, to the famed Birkebiner Trails of South Central Wisconsin.  Their trip included a smorgasbord of skiing activities including training, a race at Telemark, a night skiing experience, and all the other fun components of team travel like card games, pizza, and pancake breakfasts.
