DETROIT – Scion suffers from a malady that has affected a number of brands that are the smaller offshoots of major automotive powerhouses. As the designated youth brand of Toyota it is not clear whether Scion has established an independent presence in the market even though it has some top notch products.

Yes, we drove the Challenger, well three of them, but the real news here was brand expansion rooted in horsepower.
DETROIT – There are two ways to look at the Toyota Prius hybrid. Either the Japanese automaker dragged the rest of the U.S. market into gasoline-electric powered cars, the belief that if you want to compete with Toyota, you’ve got to have hybrids. Or, the automaker was out in front of the curve and saw that gas pump prices would eventually cause Americans to become a lot more sensitive to the fuel efficiency of their vehicles.
