FLOW celebrates Northside artists with 10th anniversary exhibits

flowinsight-masthead 15 flatThis upcoming weekend of July 23-25, 2015, FLOW Northside Arts Crawl will celebrate ten years of shining a light on the Northside community through the arts.

Initially imagined as a small studio crawl with 20 artists and 6 sites for the PEACE Foundation (now Northside Achievement Zone), FLOW has grown and been shaped by the community to include over 300 artists from a variety of genres showing at 34 different studios, galleries, theaters, businesses, indoor and outdoor vacant spaces. Attendance has grown from 1000 in 2006 to a projected 10,000 in 2015.

North Minneapolis residents and visitors hungry for a sit down, wholesome southern meal in their own neighborhood enjoyed Chicken Wings, Remoulade Catfish Po’Boy Sliders, Backyard BBQ Dawgs, Mean Beans, Red Beans and Rice, Veggie Mac & 7 Cheeses, Remoulade Coleslaw and Seasoned Fries.

West Broadway Business and Area Coalition officials say ongoing services on West Broadway, the primary commercial corridor in north Minneapolis, will have a positive and long-lasting impact on both the neighborhood and the larger community of Minneapolis. Residents, business owners and visitors have already noticed the difference made after the first rounds of litter pickup and poster removal undertaken by WBID crews.

Hopewell Music Cooperative North offers “music to all”

The event, hosted by partner North United Methodist Church, will include a silent auction, a concert of Bach works by professional musician friends of Hopewell and a reception featuring chocolate, other treats and music performed by Hopewell’s talented students. The event is designed to be enjoyed by all ages.

Ms. Egbujor is kept busy by her loyal clients; Paradise Beauty is famous for its Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday-only specials: $75 for a full weave sew-in, and dread retouching for just $40.
