The City of Brooklyn Center is shining green lights for the census. Why is this important? We are one of the most diverse communities in Minnesota with 57.7% people of color, more than 22 known languages, and a projected under count of 7,000 (close to 1/4 of our population).

As part of our campaign, our City Hall was lit green , symbolizing everyone matters and will be counted starting April 1. Census messages in various languages are illuminated and projected nightly on our water tower (HWY 100) and neighboring apartment building (The Crest). Green LED light bulbs are being distributed to those interested in switching out a home/business light to show support of this initiative.

We are diligently working to educate those in and around our community on the importance of, and the impact that the 2020 Census will have on all of us for years to come.
