A quick primer for following the first hybrid Democratic National Convention

The first ever hybrid in-person/virtual Democratic National Convention kicks off on Monday, August 17 and ends on August 20. Themed “Convention Across America,” the conference takes place in Milwaukee, Wis., and the in-person events are relegated to those individuals who are essential to the planning.

Virtual events will take place throughout the day and general convention business will air 9:00 to 11:00 PM ET every night with a pre-show Behind The Rhyme presents Your Voice Your Vote, a live special featuring coverage and a simulcast of the Democratic National Convention, starting at 8:00 PM ET/7:00 PM CT.

Minnesota delegates

The Minnesota DFL has elected 75 pledged delegates and six pledged alternates to the Democratic National Convention. Minnesota’s delegation also includes 16 unpledged automatic delegates.

Minnesota’s delegates include automatic delegates Vice President Walter Mondale, Governor Tim Walz, Sens. Tina Smith and Amy Klobuchar and Congresswoman Ilhan Omar.

Convention Schedule

August 17 - Behind The Rhyme presents Your Voice Your Vote, a live special featuring coverage and a simulcast of the Democratic National Convention, starting at 8:00 PM ET. Tune in after the convention for a post-show panel followed by a DJ set with DJ Beverly Bond. 

Amy Klobuchar is on the August 17 evening schedule as a speaker. Former First Lady Michelle Obama is the evening’s featured keynote (10-11 PM ET/9-10 PM CT). 

August 18 - Behind The Rhyme presents Your Voice Your Vote, a live special featuring coverage and a simulcast of the Democratic National Convention, starting at 8:00 PM ET/7 PM CT. Tune in after the convention for a post-show panel followed by a DJ set with Vashtie.

Dr. Jill Biden will close the evening program as a speaker (9-10 PM CT). 

August 19 - Behind The Rhyme presents Your Voice Your Vote, a live special featuring coverage and a simulcast of the Democratic National Convention, starting at 8:00 PM ET. And tune in after the convention for a post-show panel followed by a DJ set with DJ Cassidy. 

Sen. Kamala Harris and President Barack Obama will take the stage to speak at 9-10 PM CT. 

August 20 - Behind The Rhyme presents Your Voice Your Vote, a live special featuring coverage and a simulcast of the Democratic National Convention, starting at 8:00 PM ET. Tune in after the convention for a post-show panel followed by a DJ set with Jermaine Dupri. 

Sen. Cory Booker and Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms speak before Vice President Joe Biden accepts the nomination and speaks.
