The event will be held the Crowne Plaza Riverfront Hotel in downtown Saint Paul, 11 Kellogg Boulevard.

The leader of 106 NUL affiliates across the country, Morial will give a firsthand report on The State of Black America – 2006 and a true accounting of the economic status of working people in America today.

Morial served two terms as the Mayor of the city of New Orleans, Louisiana, and as President of the National Conference of City Mayors. He presently is working diligently with the federal government to help revitalize New Orleans in the wake of the Katrina Hurricane disaster that befell the country’s Gulf Coast in 2005. Morial is playing a major role in getting displaced residents to return to the area, as well as press for adequate sites for them to vote in the upcoming mayoral runoff elections.

Morial will also pay tribute to the Saint Paul Urban League for its nationally recognized 83 years of service to the Twin Cities community in the areas of civil rights, housing, economic development, and other needs of poor and working people. He will also highlight Saint Paul for actively supporting 42 Katrina victims by providing housing, jobs, and counseling in their new residence in Minnesota.
